Yoga Jivana Student Testimonials

Peter and Sue Scott are the best teachers I’ve ever had for anything. I started yoga with Sue in 1998 and was hooked after the first class. More than eight years have passed and I’ve hardly missed a class. Not only are Peter and Sue fantastic practitioners, they are excellent teachers, instilling a love of yoga in their students with their skill, passion and compassion. Yoga has changed my life for the better. I have Peter and Sue to thank for that.

I’ve always been impressed with your deep knowledge of yoga as a science and a philosophy, and how this flows through your classes, and is passed on to the students on both  an individual level and  class level. I have always been encouraged by your calm assurance & find your teaching methods motivating. The classes have always been enjoyable and provided an opportunity for personal physical and mental development through Iyengar Yoga.

My name is Lou Kenny, I am now 48 yrs of age with a 30 yr history of pinging my back, doggy knees, tight hips (the kind that dread getting in and out of cars, and especially long car journeys)…and my emotional state was fragile…anti depressants were prescribed. Meanwhile, little bits of yoga became my salvage and as Kev Carmody says “from little things big things grow”….my confidence grew with the new found freedom I acquired thru yoga, simple things affected it, like alighting in and out of cars without groaning, accessing items in supermarket from lowest and highest shelves with ease…these are significant results! Then I attended Yoga workshops in Noosa with Peter Scott and soon cultivated strength and flexibility that I never thought  was possible for me. And Peter conducts his classes with such grace and good humour I’m nearly reluctant to recommend them lest they get too crowded.

I have participated in both workshops & classes taught by Sue since 1997. She is a highly skilled, perceptive & empathetic teacher, a fine person with a wonderful sense of humour!

I have been studying yoga for 40 years and compared to any yoga teacher I have experienced, Peter is exceptional. He exemplifies yoga principles of respect, steadfastness & deep commitment to personal practice. He clearly appreciates and attends to individual needs & circumstances without compromising high standards of practice & discipline. Peter is widely regarded as one of Australia’s most experienced, most accomplished & most respected yoga teachers.

As a teacher Peter inspired me in the art of teaching and the desire to convey knowledge more than any other teacher in my life so thank you for that Peter and I know you will continue to do the same in your unique way to others. Namaste Stephanie

I have had the great pleasure of attending many of Peter’s workshops, a retreat and several Pranayama courses over the last year. It is a joy to study Iyengar Yoga with him and his knowledge, passion and love of Yoga is ever present in his teaching. One always leaves his class the richer in knowledge and awareness. Peter constantly reminds me as student that there is such depth and breath within Yoga, and he is an outstanding Teacher and guide helping all to explore the gift of Yoga.

As students of Iyengar Yoga, we must work external to internal, from the extremities to the organic core, gross, to the most subtle and refined you could ever imagine. In doing so, the boundary between voluntary and involuntary, and between body and mind will be permeated. Peter and Sue have an uncanny ability to guide you along this pathway. They have a gift of selecting the most critical alignment instructions for every individual body. Their instructions are simple yet very effective. Through the daily practice that Peter has given me, without even realizing it, I have strengthened my willpower and my powers of concentration. My perceptions have changed and I have banished forever any anger, resentment, fear, doubt, and low self-esteem that was hovering over me. I have felt my brain cells breathe and my organs lengthen. I feel that I am becoming closer to self-realization with every breath. It is through Iyengar Yoga that Peter has helped me seal my desire and determination to follow this fabulous pathway, wherever it may lead.

In essence, the experience of this module for me was like being handed a Treasure Map, one that gives all the important clues or landmarks necessary to find the treasure but excludes the details of the journey because these must be sought out, discovered and explored through experience.

By following BKS Iyengar’s teachings, we can revitalize the body and bring tranquility to the mind. I now approach yoga in a different frame of mind aware of where it can take me beyond just the physical aspects of asana.

I would highly recommend this unit of study for all who have the desire to understand the joy that yoga practice brings to ones life and beyond.

My understanding and appreciation of Iyengar Yoga has broadened greatly. Prior to the course, I questioned if Iyengar was that “user friendly”, as I was a bit blinded by the degree of discipline that I thought was required, but now I feel more aware of the potential that fostering the kind of discipline, explained so well by Geeta, I may indeed enhance my practices.

Being a part of Sue’s prenatal yoga class has been such an important part of my pregnancy. Her ongoing guidance and support helped me to adapt to the many changes pregnancy brings – on an emotional, spiritual and physical level. Not only did she help me regain my confidence back in my yoga practice, but her classes allowed me to feel prepared for the birthing process, and also for the enormous change that awaits at the end – being a parent. Her knowledge, intuition and caring nature were invaluable throughout my pregnancy experience.

I recently started a children’s yoga class with Sue. I have been going once a week for one term and I really enjoy it. Sue is a good teacher. She gives us a real feel for yoga and challenges us with different poses. She helps us when we need it. I think the yoga has benefited me in many ways. I play a lot of sport and the yoga has made my body more flexible and I have better balance. I don’t fall over playing football as much as I used to and I have more stamina when I swim. My body feels different in a good way. Sue is also good at getting us to relax at the end of our class which is nice after using a lot of energy in the class. The people in the class with me are very friendly and nice to be around. Yoga is something I look forward to in my week.
