Preparing for a Yoga Class

Simple Advice to Enjoy Your Class

Yoga Jivana offers some simple advice to make each Iyengar yoga class enjoyable and stress free

What to wear

Discreet clothing you can move easily in, bike shorts, footless tights, T-shirt. Clean bare feet are essential. We have male & female change rooms & toilets.

What to bring

All equipment needed for class is provided by Yoga Jivana. You may bring your own yoga mat but please make sure it has your name on it. Thanks!

It is best not to eat a large/heavy meal any closer than three hours before class. A light meal/snack one hour before is okay.

Class attendance

Arrive 10 minutes before your class begins. Time enough to register for the class, meet your teacher & discuss any issues you may have and prepare your place in the room.

No disruptions

Turn off your mobile phone! A ringing (or vibrating!) phone can disrupt your concentration and everyone else’s.
Yoga is an inward process. Keep casual conversation during class to a minimum. Thank you!

Unusual circumstances

This may result in classes being cancelled. We will do our best to notify you of any changes to class scheduling. If you have been absent for some time, please confirm that your class is on by visiting our live timetable just before-hand. Thanks!

Physical problems or medical conditions

It is absolutely necessary to inform your teacher before the class. Please complete the registration form detailing any physical problems or medical conditions.

Registering at Yoga Jivana

If you are new to Yoga Jivana you will be asked to complete a registration form which has a section where you can detail any physical problems or medical conditions. It is also beneficial to inform your teacher if you are pregnant or if you are menstruating as some asana’s will need to be modified for your wellbeing & comfort.

Registering Online

If you prefer, you can visit our live timetable and complete a few simple steps to create your own student profile. This enables you to book & pay for classes or a term course. We currently use MindBody for all class registrations. The app called MindBody-Connect can make all your future bookings into your favourite classes simple (download the MindBody-Connect app from the App Store or Google Play) . If you’re already a student at Yoga Jivana just use the email address you gave us when you registered at the front desk & follow the prompts. See you on the mat!

We close on public holidays.

Thank you & Namasté
