What is an intensive? How is it different to casual class attendance? Can anyone sign up for an intensive?
An intensive allows you to immerse yourself in yoga in a concentrated way and begin to feel the positive effects of a daily yoga practice. Often held over consecutive days or weeks, an intensive allows students to build on knowledge through a learning progression. Students can then consolidate that learning in their own practice.
An intensive often has a particular theme or focus. In a class sequence students may be taught a variety of asana (poses) where as in an intensive, the focus is on one particular group of asana and may include poses that lead to and/or support that asana group.
Each month on Tuesday nights we will be featuring a new intensive. Places are limited.
Coming up in June…
Yoga JUMP at 6:00pm: focusing on Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutations), jumping in and out of standing poses. Perfect to stay warm as the weather begins to cool off.
YOGA Rest at 7:30pm: focusing on restorative asana. A perfect way to end the day, to soothe and restore the body’s energy.
As you know our term courses take a break over the school holiday period. But the good news is that we’re offering Winter Morning Intensives that will be held over both weeks of school holidays.
Our Winter Intensive for BEGINNERS will run from Monday 27th June – Friday 1st July. The intensive for INTERMEDIATE students will run from Monday 4th July – Friday 8th July. Sessions are for 1 hour, we begin promptly at 7am. Bring your “keep cup” and make a cup of tea to take with you on your way to work.
