Progressive Learning for Students of Yoga

The Step towards Understanding

We are excited to introduce a new learning concept in yoga we call the ‘Progressive Learning Program’. This program is geared towards enthusiastic students of Iyengar Yoga who may not wish to become teachers but are looking for a structured course, which will guide them in deepening their understanding of yoga asanas (yoga poses and postures) & philosophy.

The format of the Progressive Learning Program (PLP) includes lectures, yoga practices, question and answer sessions, as well as specific yoga instruction, like in regular classes.

PLP has been introduced to offer a broader format to learning yoga. It can be easily used to enhance participation in regular yoga classes, enabling you to really make the most of them, as well as taking you beyond them so that with the combined practical & philosophical directions, your yoga can have a deeper meaning & connection to your life.

While the Progressive Learning Program is complete as a course, it is also part of the Teacher Training Program . The PLP leads yoga students towards becoming self-reliant yogis & yoginis. Some participants discover after an in-depth study of yoga, that they are drawn to becoming teachers, whilst others are not. Therefore we see the PLP as a perfect way to honour the desire to explore the art & science of yoga, regardless of where the path may lead.

Who is the Program suitable for?
The Progressive Learning Program is recommended to all students of yoga that have been attending Iyengar Yoga classes for at least two years.

While not suitable for the absolute beginner, the Progressive Learning Program aims to be inclusive of anyone with a keen interest in developing their knowledge of yoga asana & philosophy, regardless of ability in physical performance of the asanas.

A tenacity of spirit and a willingness to learn is all that is required.

Practicing Yoga creates opportunities for us to learn about ourselves, it supports us in our daily lives and brings together people from all walks of life. Yoga teaches us to listen to our bodies, while quietening our the universal soul - bringing an inner freedom & outer joy.

The Progressive Learning Program (PLP) links up with the Teacher Training Program (TTP) runs jointly with it for several core modules of study, so that participants of both courses are studying and / or practicing together.

The PLP includes 3 Stages of 5 Yoga modules.
