introducing yoga jivana's teachers

Each Certified Teacher and 'Teacher in Training' at Yoga Jivana is committed to upholding the excellence and purity of Iyengar Yoga, one of the world’s most widely practiced yogas. All our teachers at Yoga Jivana are either fully qualified (certificated) in Iyengar Yoga or are 'teachers in training' with the Yoga Jivana STTY Course, directed by Peter Scott.

Peter & Sue are two of a small body of Senior Iyengar Yoga teachers in Australia who offer training programs for students wishing to become Iyengar Yoga teachers.

Yoga Jivana would like to introduce our other wonderful teachers:

Qualified at Introductory level 2

Anita Del Testa

Anita began practising yoga in 2002, initially to help her manage her back pain.  Her yoga practice began to heal years of back issues but also had a huge transformative effect on her life which led her to train as an Iyengar teacher.  She began attending classes with Senior Teacher Peter Scott in 2006 and commenced teacher training with him in 2007.  She continues to study with Peter and Sue Scott and is a Certified Introductory Level II teacher.  Anita enjoys teaching as she sees how the power of yoga can transform her students’ lives, releasing them, like it did her from a lifetime of stored tension and pain. Anita recently returned from a month long visit to the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute in Pune India where she studied with the Iyengar family

Nick Merrett

Nick started practicing hatha yoga in the year 2000 as way to maintain general health and well being and has been attending yoga classes weekly ever since. A couple of years into Nicks yoga journey he started attending Iyengar Yoga classes and quickly fell in love with methods and attention to detail. In 2007 he undertook the teacher training program offered by Yoga Jivana, attaining his full certification (Intro 2) in 2011. Also along this journey, Nick has studied directly with the Iyengar Family, including BKS Iyengar, Geeta Iyengar and Prashant Iyengar in various workshops in Australia and abroad as well as at the Iyengar Yoga Institue in Pune, India.
Nick has also participated in various Senior Australian Iyengar Yoga Teachers workshops & professional development seminars.
When Nick is not practicing, studying or teaching yoga, he works full time as a Telecommunications engineer for a small Melbourne based company

Bianca Milione

Bianca began her practice of yoga in 1998. She has completed her Iyengar Yoga teacher training with Yoga Jivana and continues to study with Peter and with Sue Scott on a regular basis. Bianca believes that quality yoga teaching comes from dedicated yoga practice, and strives to deepen her understanding of yoga over the years. Bianca holds an Introductory Level 2 certificate in Iyengar Yoga, and will study with the Iyengar family in Pune India for two months in mid 2012. Bianca is a full-time Yoga teacher

Paul Purchase
Paul’s love of yoga and its ancient wisdom started from a young age as his mother, being a yoga teacher herself, introduced Paul to it's practise. Later, Paul tried different styles and teachers of yoga until he came across Iyengar yoga. “ The dynamics and intensity of the classes were fantastic. I was instantly hooked."
Paul practiced on the Gold coast with Jan O’Donoghue for many years before moving to Melbourne in 2007 to start teacher training at Yoga Jivana. Completing his teaching training in 2009 Paul received his Introductory level 2 certificate in 2010. Paul has just returned from India where he spent 2 months studying closely with the Iyengars. He particularly likes the following quote from Prashant Iyengar:
“I am not drawing you closer towards me as your teacher but am guiding you closer towards your Self.”

Passed Introductory level 1 - Teacher in Training

Georgia Cato

Georgia first began practicing yoga in 2007 and discovered that Yoga helped balance the demands of a busy modern life with solace and relaxation.
Georgia was attracted to Iyengar yoga with its focus on correct body alignment and precision in asana practice.  She has found the integration and discipline beneficial, and continues her practice and Iyengar Yoga teacher training at Yoga Jivana.

Graeme Gemmell

Graeme has always been draw to Eastern traditions and Philosophy and spent over twelve years practising martial arts before a friend, and fate started him on a yoga path in 1996. In 2004 he successfully completed the Diploma of Health and Yoga and is currently undertaking teacher training at Yoga Jivana.

Sandra Morello

It was curiosity that brought Sandra to her first Iyengar yoga class in 2001. This initial curiosity developed into inquiry when, after years of regular class attendance, she began Teacher Training with Yoga Jivana in 2009. The challenges and rewards of a regular yoga practice continue to enrich her experience of life. She believes that a regular practice is transformative on many levels and enjoys sharing this with others through her teaching.
