Introducing Yoga Jivana's Teachers Each Certified Teacher at Yoga Jivana is committed to upholding the excellence and purity of Iyengar Yoga, one of the world’s most widely practiced yogas. Peter Scott
Founder, Director & Senior Teacher Peter Scott is one of Australia's pre-eminent Iyengar Yoga practitioners and teachers, having devoted 30 years to the art and science of yoga since beginning practice in 1977. Peter is a Senior Intermediate level 2 teacher of Iyengar Yoga, certificated directly from Yogacharya BKS Iyengar. Peter began teaching in 1982 and in 1987 founded the ‘Rathdowne Yoga Room’ in North Carlton - where many of Melbourne’s current Iyengar Yoga teachers trained. Peter's teaching is distinguished by his extensive knowledge of the body and yogic wisdom, the clarity he creates when teaching, and his quiet ability to inspire & guide the practitioner along the path of yoga. Peter’s classes, workshops & teacher training are a culmination of his years of dedicated practice & teaching. His forte is in bringing together all aspects of yoga and confidently providing an accessible path to understanding this respected and invaluable tool to self knowledge. He is also a Naturopath and Herbalist, registered with NHAA. Sue Scott
Founder, Director & Teacher Sue Scott has extensive knowledge of the body gained from her background in classical & modern dance in Australia and Europe that informs her practice at a deep level. Following a spinal injury, Sue returned to Melbourne and was introduced to the healing qualities of Iyengar Yoga. Sue then trained with Peter Scott & began teaching yoga in 1992 at Rathdowne Yoga Room. After further study in Pune, India in 1994 & 1995 Sue became a fully qualified Junior Intermediate level 2 Iyengar Yoga teacher in 1999. During her time running the Noosa Yoga Centre, Sue developed a pre-natal yoga class which became well known on the Sunshine Coast, recommended by midwifes & birthing centres as an empowering way to prepare for birth. Sue’s interest is to promote a deeper understanding of how to support & nurture a wholistic yoga practice while challenging our ideas of strength and force, dedication and desire. Sue’s teaching style is welcoming & encouraging to all. All our teachers at Yoga Jivana are either fully qualified (certificated) in Iyengar Yoga or are 'teachers in training' with Peter Scott. Peter is one of the small body of Senior Iyengar Yoga teachers in Australia who run training programs for students wishing to become Iyengar Yoga teachers.
