Preparing for a Yoga Class

Simple advice to enjoy your class

Ganesha at Yoga JivanaYoga Jivana offers some simple advice to make each Iyengar yoga class enjoyable and stress free.

What to wear
Discreet clothing you can move easily in, bike shorts, footless tights, T-shirt. Clean bare feet are essential.

What to bring
All equipment needed for class is provided by Yoga Jivana. You may bring your own yoga mat but please make sure it has your name on it.

Eating
It is best not to eat a meal any closer than three hours before class (a light snack one hour before is O.K.)

Class Attendance
Arrive 10 minutes before your class begins. Please check carefully the daily yoga class timetable

No Disruptions
a) Turn off your mobile phone! A ringing (or vibrating!) phone can disrupt your concentration and everyone else’s.
b) Yoga is an inward process. Keep casual conversation during class to a minimum.

Unusual circumstances
This may result in classes being cancelled. We will do our best to notify you of any changes to class scheduling. Always phone or email if you have been absent for some time:

Physical problems or medical conditions
It is absolutely necessary to inform your teacher before the class. Please complete the registration form detailing any physical problems or medical conditions.

It is also beneficial to inform your teacher if you are pregnant or if you are menstruating as some asana’s will need to be modified for your wellbeing & comfort.

Thank you.
